The Amherst Town Band has appointed Vincent “Vinny” DeStefano as its new music director.
Vinny earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015, along with his Massachusetts Initial Educator License. He later completed a Master of Music Education through the American Band College at Central Washington University and earned his Massachusetts Professional Educator License in 2019.
Vinny currently serves as the Director of Bands at McCarthy Middle School in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Prior to joining Chelmsford Public Schools, he began his teaching career as the Band and General Music teacher at Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to fostering musical excellence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music among musicians of all ages.
